In this forum the 111C - with the Cobra burner - always has been the bad boy in the classroom of the other 111's. Why :?: I think the problem is the "M" multifuel jet (2509), which Optimus recomend for petrol, kerosene and diesel. Who has a car running on these different fuels - all know it is not possible. Do you want a stove running perfect - REAL PERFECT - on different fuels, you must change the jet :!: Look at the 111T - 3 different jets - 2508 alcohol - 2509 kerosene - 2520 petrol :!: Optimus manual for 111C Hiker says - "A" alcohol(2508) and "M" multifuel (2509) OK - for alcohol and kerosene it's OK - but for petrol it is a disaster.   Look here: On petrol with "M" multifuel jet On petrol with 2510 jet On kerosene with "M" multifuel jet Under the kettle The bore in the jet's is: 2508 - Alcohol - 0,51 mm "M" multifuel (2509) - 0,30 mm "G" gasolin (2510) - 0,38 mm With "G" you get 60% more fuel !! I only use alcohol for personal priming of me and the stove    And I only has to prime THE STOVE one time for perfect starting. But - the 111 roarer on kerosene is simple the best of all - noisy and powerfull.

While I am a rare bloke who likes the 111C as is I'll try getting a selection of jets. Thanks for the tip!

Me to. I have only tried it with kerosene though. Needs a good preheat but then it burns strong and hot.

Basically, 111C has suffered a failure in a few aspects, speaking form my own experience: 1) it contained debris inside the fuel tank. Inside was coated with black paint-like material, and it chipped off and occasionally entered the fuel line, and blocked the fuel delivery. 2) the fuel intake pipe was not pointing down enough to pick up all the fuel inside. The intake pipe was at nearly horizontal position, thereby allowing only 1/2 of fuel in the tank to be used. When the stove ran out of fuel, the tank was sloshing with plenty of fuel. I had to physically bend down the pipe, so that it would consume about 2/3 of the capacity. 3) The burner is lower in height in relation to the pan supports. Because the height of the burner itself is shorter than the original silent burner of 111T, the burner on 111C has a longer distance to reach to the bottom of the pot. The flame pattern disperses wider, and it loses its efficiency (Similar effect may be noted in MSR's XGK and Dragonfly stoves). In my opinion, the gap between the top of the burner and the pot bottom should not be greater than 1/2 inch. One needs to use a wider pot, in order not to allow the flame escape up the side wall of the pot. 4) the burner spindle froze, and when forced, it broke off. I do not know what caused it. It turned okay at first, then it rapidly became stiff, and then finally froze. It caused me grief of dealing with unwilling members of the repair/warrantee department individuals, time and money not counting. 5) the "M" jet does not adequately address the different characteristic of kerosene and white gas. "M" jet, as it stands, is only good for kerosene, and relegates 111C virtually to a single-fuel stove. It should be named "K," instead. 6) The fuel tank overheats. Unlike 111T, 111C overheats its fuel tank so soon. I have never experienced a "warm" fuel tank on 111B or 111T. So in a way, it would be prudent to use kero only in 111C. I feel that 111C's fuel tank will do well in the cold climate. #1, 4, 6 were poor workmanship or poor choice of material. #2 was a poor workmanship. #3 and #5 are the overall mis-design of the stove.

To bark2much I understand you - and all your problems with your 111C - bad luck. But I haven't had problems with my 111C - but it can't use the "M! jet for petrol. All the old 111's - special 111 roarer on kerosene is superb. But today - the quality of many stoves made in far east is totally out of control.
